Even though we had some very good productivity tools — email (of
course), instant messaging, spreadsheets, and applications specific to
the work YOU do, their very capability is itself a problem, as with
them you produce volumes of information that must then be organized,
sorted and filed. If you work from home and from an office and use
multiple machines, the sorting and filing and organizational struggle
increases exponentially. Factor in cell phones (which now house data)
and PDA’s and there’s no end to the confusion and complexity of keeping
all your information correct, current and archived in a meaningful way.
